The Cost of Coaching: What You Pay, What You Get, What It Is Worth
Coaching costs $75 to $500 per hour and $2,000 to $12,000 for a typical three to six month package, which prices most people out. The deciding factor is not the hourly rate but the cost per moment of intervention: a $4,000 package buys roughly twelve conversations a year, while daily support costs a fraction of that. This hub collects every article we have written on coaching prices and the alternatives that keep the accountability without the invoice.
Coaching works. That is not in dispute. What is in dispute is whether the standard delivery model, two to four scheduled calls a month sold in thousand-dollar blocks, is the only way to buy it.
These articles break the pricing apart honestly: what coaches charge and why, what is quietly excluded from a package, when the spend genuinely pays for itself, and what the realistic substitutes look like when the budget is a few hundred dollars a year rather than several thousand.
The short version
- Typical life coach rate: $75 to $500 per hour, packaged in three to six month blocks
- Executive coaching commonly lands at $500 to $3,500 per session
- A $4,000 package buys around twelve conversations, roughly $333 each
- Cost per intervention matters more than cost per hour
- Daily AI-led accountability runs $29 per month, about 1 percent of a typical package

ReadCommon questions
What is the cheapest legitimate way to get coaching?
Group coaching programmes, peer accountability structures, and AI coaching platforms are the three realistic tiers below one-to-one coaching. Group programmes run $100 to $500 per month, peer structures are free but unreliable, and AI coaching sits around $29 per month with daily rather than fortnightly contact.
Is a more expensive coach measurably better?
Price mostly tracks demand, specialisation, and the client's seniority, not outcome quality. A $400 per hour coach is not four times more effective than a $100 per hour coach. Fit, follow-through, and frequency of contact explain far more of the result than rate does.
Do coaching packages include support between sessions?
Usually only lightly. Most packages include email or messaging access with a stated response window, and that access is capped. The between-session period, which is where behaviour actually changes or does not, is largely unsupported.
